In its long and eventful history, Tunisia has been occupied by Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs.

Now the country is home to most impressive ruins, including seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This tour includes many of the country’s most famous archaeological sites, the ancient city of Carthage, steeped in legend the vast colosseum of El Deem, the fascinating underground villas of Bulla Regia and the holy city of Kairouan.

Day 1: TUNISIA
Arrival to Tunis and transfer to hotel in Tunis. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 2: TUNIS/BARDO/CARTHAGE/SIDI BOU SAID/TUNIS
After breakfast, travel to visit the National Museum of Bardo, which hosts an extensive collection of Roman mosaic, considered one of the finest in the world. Next, visit the Medina of Tunis, (UNESCO World Heritage Site) exploring the narrow souk lined streets. Lunch at the restaurant. The afternoon is spent visiting the principle sites of Carthage. Explore the Phoenician and Roman ruins, including stops at the Tophet, the Punic Harbours, Antonin’s Bath and the Carthage Museum. Continue on to the village of Sidi Bou Said, boasting spectacular views of the Gulf of Tunis. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3: TUNIS - BULLA REGIA - DOUGGA - TUNIS
After early breakfast, travel to explore the archaeological site of Bulla Regia, known for its semi-subterranean housing, and outstanding collection of Roman mosaics. Next head to Dougga. Lunch at the restaurant. Continue to visit the site of Dougga, one of the best preserved Roman town in North Africa; designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Remains include temples, baths, a theatre, a circus, … Dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Tunis.

Day 4: TUNIS - HAOUARIA - KERKOUANE - HAMMAMET - SOUSSE
Enjoy a full day on the fertile peninsula of Cap Bon, just 150km from Sicily. Depart towards the south. At El Haouaria panoramic visit of the quarries. Lunch at the hotel. Next drive to the costal Kerkouane. UNESCO declared the Punic Town of Kerkouane and its Necropolis a World Heritage Site in 1985, citing among other things that the remains constitute the only example of a Phoenicio-Punic city to have survived. Stop at the Medina of Hammamet. Continuation towards Sousse. Dinner and overnight at Sousse hotel.

Day 5: SOUSSE - KAIROUAN - EL JEM - SOUSSE
After breakfast, leave for the holy city of Kairouan. Stop at the Aghlabid pools, the city's main water reservoir. Visit the impressive Mosque Sidi Okba, founded in the 7th century and the mausoleum of Abou Zemaa El Balaoui, also known as the "prophet Berber”. Explore the old town and its characteristic markets. Lunch at the restaurant. Next drive to El Jem, to discover its grandiose amphitheatre, the third largest in the Roman world and its impressive museum. Dinner and overnight at the Sousse hotel.

Day 6: SOUSSE - MONASTIR - SOUSSE
After breakfast, departure to Monastir to explore the “ribat”. Visit the Bourguiba mausoleum. Lunch at the restaurant. Return to Sousse. Visite the archaeological museum which hosts one of the finest collection of mosaics and the catacombs. Free time in the medina. Dinner and overnight at Sousse hotel

Day 7: SOUSSE -THUBURBO MAJUS - TUNIS
After breakfast at the hotel, departure to Thuburbo Majus, to visit the Roman site. Remains include a colonnaded forum, fine temples, houses and baths. Observe the remains of Zaghouan Aqueduct, which supplied the city of Carthage, with water. From its source, it flows a total of 132 km. Arrival in Tunisia capital. Lunch at the restaurant. Next, visit the Medina of Tunis, (UNESCO World Heritage Site) exploring the narrow souk lined streets...Dinner and overnight at hotel in Tunis capital.

Day 8: TUNIS - UTICA - TUNISIA /APTO
After breakfast, continue on to Utica, the first Phoenician settlement. Visit the archaeological site and its museum. Return travel to Tunis and transfer to the airport. End of itinerary.
